Who we are
This website is operated by Hartley McMaster HK Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong with its registered office at 1104 Crawford House, 70 Queen's Road Central, Central, Hong Kong ("Hartley McMaster", "we"). Hartley McMaster Limited, company number 02638728, registered office 167–169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London W1W 5PF, processes personal data on behalf of Hartley McMaster for enquiries relating to the United Kingdom and Europe. We are the data user for the purposes of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong.
What we collect
We collect personal data only when you give it to us or when your browser sends it in the course of visiting the site.

Information you give us. When you email us or use a contact form on this site, we receive the information you provide, which will usually be your name, your organisation, your email address, and the content of your message. Supplying this information is voluntary. If you do not supply it, we cannot respond to your enquiry.

Information collected automatically. Our site is hosted on the Wix platform, which collects technical information from your browser: your IP address, browser type, operating system, the pages you visit, the time of your visit, and the site that referred you. Some of this is collected through cookies (see below).
How we use it
We use the information you give us to respond to your enquiry and, if an engagement follows, to carry it out. We use the information collected automatically to operate and secure the site and to understand how it is used. We do not use personal data for direct marketing and we do not sell it.
Who we share it with
Your personal data may be transferred to or accessed by the following classes of persons: our hosting provider, Wix.com Ltd. and its affiliates, whose servers may be located outside Hong Kong; our email service provider; our professional advisers, where necessary; and any person to whom we are required by law to disclose it. We do not otherwise disclose personal data to third parties.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and any engagement that follows, and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records, after which it is deleted. Technical data collected by the hosting platform is retained according to Wix's own policies.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure, including the security measures provided by our hosting platform.
Your rights
Under the Ordinance you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you and to request its correction. Requests should be made in writing to contact@hmcm.com.hk or to the registered office address above. We may charge a reasonable fee for complying with a data access request, as the Ordinance permits.
Visitors from the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area
If you are in the UK or the EEA, the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR may also apply to how we handle your personal data. Our lawful basis for processing your enquiry is our legitimate interest in responding to it and in conducting our business, and, where an engagement follows, the performance of a contract. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection provided by those regulations, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, which in the UK is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Personal data may be transferred to Hong Kong, which is not the subject of a UK or EU adequacy decision; where it is, we rely on the safeguards available under the applicable regulation.
